Wise Policy's "Lust, Caution" Open Huge with Packed Theaters!

Distributed and presented by Wise Policy and co-presented by JVC Entertainment "Lust, Caution" opened big at Chanter Cine, Bunkamura Le Cinema, Shinjuku Wald 9 and 75 engagements nationwide on Saturday, February 2 with nearly every sold-out shows. At Chanter Cine the principal theater of all, the long line started a hour before 9:15am show and 90% of 224 seats were occupied, remaining 2nd, 3rd and 4th shows were completely sold out hours before of each. All shows at Le Cinema were sold out (140 seats) , 2nd, 3rd and 4th show were full hours before. 2nd, 3rd and 4th show at Shinjuku Wald 9 were sold-out, continued to late/all night shows. With sold-out show at TOHO Cinemas Umeda in Osaka, the opening was huge in rest of the country as well. Despite of snowing on Sunday in Tokyo, the film continued to perform well, second and third shows at Chanter Cine were sold out as well as second, third and fourth shows at Le Cinema, second show at Shinjuku Wald 9. Audience demo were spread out. Film-lovers, fans of Ang Lee, senior males and couples who were interested in 40's Shanghai-setting gathered in the morning shows, then females and couples in their 30~50's who were keen to see the love story or fans of Tony Leung or Wang Leehom came to early afternoon shows. Young couples in 20's were well attended to evening shows. Presumably, many were there to see much-talked explicit sex scenes in the film which were the media-topic prior to the release. The Demography of male/female were 4/6. The film are expected to perform well with word-on-mouth and repeat audience by the quality that won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, featured ever-shocking sex scenes. The film's love story also would increase the box office on Ladies' Day at each theater. The film will most likely to surpass the box office of Lee's previous "Brokeback Mountain"(4,300,000,000JPY).
